Athina Pourea is a graduate of the Theater Department of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a specialization in stage design. She continued her studies and completed postgraduate education in Art Psychotherapy at the Center of Art and Psychotherapy. Since 2000, she has been volunteering in NGOs with the aim of equally integrating young people with disabilities.
She has attended many seminars for summer camps and worked for many years in the field of summer camps for children and people with disabilities as an animator of theater and arts but also as a accompanist to various factors such as: Company for kids with spasticity of N. Greece, ELEPAP, Blind School, Unit Autistic people "ELPIDA", etc. She worked for a long period at the National Theater, in the department of special stage sets and as a stage designer, she collaborated with various theatrical groups (Theater of Art, etc.). Since 2011 she has been working as a teacher teaching theater in public primary schools.
She has attended seminars for children in the autism spectrum and emotional difficulties and has applied art psychotherapy to schools and guest houses. She has co-ordinate through art psychotherapy individual sessions with adults (EPAPSY) , groups with psychotic patients (EPAPSY, EKEPYE, Galinio Melathron), groups with elderly people (Alzheimer's Disease Society) and she collaborates with the Association of People with Multiple Sclerosis. She is very sensitive to the intercultural facet of art psychotherapy and its application to populations with multicultural characteristics.
She has collaborated with N.G.O Arsis and Praksis by coordinating groups and individual sessions with refugee children and adolescents. She is a member of the Refugee Affairs Committee of the National Psychotherapy Society of Greece (EPEPS).
